Chronic Pain / Catastrophic Impairment

Dr. Steve Blitzer is a qualified chronic pain specialist physician. He is a graduate of University of Toronto medical school in 1981. Subsequently, he completed specialty training in emergency medicine/critical care which involved the treatment of trauma.  He is certified in pain medicine – Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management and Canadian Academy of Pain Management. He has a background of a large general medical and consulting practice with a special interest in musculoskeletal problems.  For the last 12 years his practice focus has been on chronic pain and rehabilitation. He is on the active staff of a local pain clinic.  He is on staff at York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill and St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto.  He is certified to do Non-Economic Loss Assessments for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario.  He has extensive experience doing Independent Medical Assessments and Insurer’s Medical Evaluations, Chronic Pain, Disability and Rehabilitation Evaluations. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators. He is involved in continuing education projects for physicians and other health professionals. He is the Chief Medical Editor of a national medical journal.
